I LOVE TEACHING.
Helping students access artistic abilities and nurturing their pride in original work is my goal.
I value discussion with students, and am genuinely interested in their ideas while expecting them to do three main things: work hard, take risks, and be nice.
There is the added bonus of forming healthy relationships and having a room full of kids laugh at my dumb jokes.
I LOVE ART.
My focus of study in Undergraduate school was mastery of painting skills with an interest in incorporating non-traditional materials into paintings to explore concepts of nature as it relates to human behavior. Outside of my emphasis, I studied Metalsmithing, Ceramics, Sculpture, Furniture Design, Printmaking, and Drawing. Since graduating, my art focus has been largely commission based while squeezing in as much personal art therapy as time allows.
"I have been so impressed with Kayla's ability to quickly acclimate herself to the high school classroom. She did an amazing job developing a rapport with students, creating strong student/teacher relationships of mutual respect. I also felt that her instructional planning, delivery, and assessment were spot on. She placed the students in charge of their own learning and responsibility. As a teacher of 29 years, I have never had a stronger student teacher! Love, Love her! As well as the students!"

.i've always known i would be a teacher.
At a young age, children foreshadow their future.
When I was little I would line up all my stuffed animals for lessons I would administer on a white board propped inside a dresser drawer.
My animals recieved tests I designed and printed
that I would then answer for them, grade, and return.
My simplest reason for wanting to teach art is that it is my natural fit.
